Description
Oyster Riven Slates are premium natural wall cladding stones known for their rich blend of earthy tones—featuring shades of brown, grey, gold, and subtle green. Their naturally split texture adds depth, warmth, and a timeless aesthetic to both interior and exterior walls.
Each piece is hand-split along natural layers, giving it a rugged yet refined look that works beautifully in modern and traditional spaces alike.
How It’s Formed
Oyster Riven Slates are metamorphic rocks formed over millions of years. They begin as shale, a sedimentary rock composed of clay and fine particles. Through intense heat and pressure deep beneath the Earth’s surface, the shale transforms into slate. This process creates fine layers that naturally cleave, allowing the stone to be split into thin, durable slabs.
These riven (split) surfaces are then hand-trimmed and selected for cladding, preserving their natural texture and rustic charm.
